vintage Villemot

I’ve finally taken the vintage Villemot posters I bought last year in Paris to the framers.
I simply can’t wait to get this Villemot Bally number and my Perrier poster back. I’ll be re-jigging some of my current artwork around and adding a few new picture hooks, but I'm really looking forward to having these beauties adorn the walls in our house.

And seeing as we’ll be putting more hooks into our walls in the coming weeks, I’m also inspired to complete my cluster wall of wedding pictures and holiday snaps. I’ve had all the frames for longer than I’d care to admit and the wall has been earmarked for a cluster display pretty-much since our first day in the house, now all that is left for me to do is find the time to sit down and select the photos.

Australia day

Happy Australia day!

Hope you have a lovely day - whether it be at the beach, watching the cricket or tuning into to the Triple J Hottest 100 while throwing some lamb, prawns or snags on the BBQ.

Chanel: on a big jet plane

Chanel staged a unique Spring/Summer runway show yesterday in Paris. The elaborate setting for this season's couture show saw the Grand Palais transformed into a 'private jet' - complete with emergency exits, numbered seating, floor lighting and even a drinks trolley.
Creative director Karl Lagerfeld has built a reputation for hosting lavish shows, but this is being hailed as perhaps his most original production.

Isn't this the part where you put on your eyemask and try and get some shut eye?

However in terms of my all-time favourite runway concepts, I can’t go past Louis Vitton’s Spring 2012 show in Paris. As the show commenced, the curtain went down to unveil a giant white carousel with models delicately perched on white horses.
Too stunning for words… so here are the pictures.

Anthropologie

American store Anthropologie has the most gorgeous necklaces.  Unique, colourful and chunky – I’ve been a huge fan of them for a few years now.

Anthropologie Nauticaus Necklace US $98
For Aussies the good news is their online store ships internationally. The bad news is that shipping to Australia can be a little on the pricey side. So it was no surprise that a visit to an Anthropology store to pick up a necklace was at the top of my holiday purchase wish-list on my recent trip to the USA.

Anthropologie store - Beverly Hills, LA
I loved the store's exterior theming. Who knew plastic plates could look so stylish!
I was lucky to find a gorgeous chunky stone and gold Anthropologie necklace day one of our trip a few hours after we landed in LA. And it was on sale too. Bonus!

Wearing my new Anthropologie necklace in San Francisco
The necklace got a bit of a workout on the trip too – worn in San Francisco, New York and Paris.

Neon

Yes I know - just saying the word conjures up images of tragic 80s outfits and tacky accessories ...or dare I say it… a packet of highlighters.
Even I was guilty of owning a couple of neon friendship bands and slap-bands back in the 80s, but thankfully (and full credit goes to my mum) that was the extent of how I incorporated the colour palette into my childhood wardrobe.
Cue 2012 – and the current way of wearing neon is a little more subtle and less harsh on the eye.

Just a little bit of neon can go a long way to injecting a splash of colour into an otherwise plain outfit – say by adding either a neon belt, t-shirt, necklace or clutch.
Or if hesitant to take the plunge, a bottle of neon nail polish may just be the way to ease into the neon trend if you're feeling unsure.

Personally I think a perfect way to wear a touch of neon is to pair it with neutral hues like greys, whites or creams for a clean and more sophisticated look.
Here’s some examples of what I think are some of the best ways to wear this trend in 2012.
